Illan Meslier gesture and Frank Lampard response to Leeds United faithful in moments missed
Leeds United secured a 2-0 win away at the in-form Coventry City on Wednesday night, though Daniel Farke said afterwards that the scoreline should have been greater.
Joel Piroe took his tally for the season to 13 while Jayden Bogle netted his fourth goal of the season from right-back. But Piroe, Brenden Aaronson and Largie Ramazani all missed key chances that should have put the game out of sight.
Still, it is three points for Leeds, who now have five straight clean sheets and have yet to concede in a month. Here are some moments supporters may have missed during the game.

Full-time furore
Ethan Ampadu picked up a yellow card in the first half for partaking in a shoving match with his marker after a corner - something Farke said afterwards that he was not pleased about. He had to be separated from Joel Latibeaudiere at full-time, who also had verbals with Pascal Struijk at the end too.
Meanwhile, Frank Lampard was the subject of some chanting from the away fans, some of it explicit. After shaking hands with the opposition and officials on the pitch, the former Derby County boss gestured towards the fans.
He stuck up four fingers and two to indicate the play-off scoreline from six years ago. After full-time, Lampard refused to comment on the gesture when quizzed.
Meslier presented to fans
It’s not unusual to see certain players pushed in front of the group to take the acclaim from the away fans and Illan Meslier fully deserved his moment in the spotlight this time. Not all have been sold on him as their No 1 with some calling for Farke to replace him in the January market.
The boss dismissed that idea and threw his weight behind the Frenchman, who now has 19 clean sheets and four in a row in the Championship. The travelling support gave him a great ovation following the full-time whistle after he made two terrific stops.
Is it redemption for Meslier? Maybe something towards that. Keep it up and he will have atoned for those errors against Hull City and Sunderland. That’s the challenge for him for the rest of the season, particularly in tighter games.
Matchday programme error
It is quite frequent to see Josuha Guilavogui’s first name spelt ‘Joshua’, which was the case on the back of the matchday programme at Coventry. But it was rather odd to see Georginio Rutter on United’s squad list.
Joe Gelhardt (loaned to Hull City) and Charlie Crew (loaned to Doncaster Rovers) were also on the sheet, albeit sometimes clubs argue that they are technically still part of the team if not practically. Still, it was a surprise to see Rutter there.
Some Leeds fans on social media joked that Leeds had indeed secured a secret last-minute return. Alas, not to be.
