'If I'm very honest' - PSV boss makes 'remarkable' Liverpool claim ahead of Arne Slot reunion
PSV Eindhoven boss Peter Bosz is excited to lock horns with Arne Slot again when Liverpool visit the Philips Stadion on Wednesday evening. Slot returns to his homeland for the Reds' final Champions League opening stage fixture, with just a point enough to secure top spot ahead of Barcelona.
The game is also a crucial one for PSV, with the Dutch champions in need of victory to secure their place in the last 16 and avoid the extra knock-out round next month.
Bosz and Slot are familiar with each other from the latter's time managing in the Netherlands, where Slot's Feyenoord did battle with PSV for the Eredivisie title. Feyenoord won the title in under Slot 2023, before PSV wrestled it back a year later in Bosz's first season at the club.

And Bosz, who admits he's a fan of Liverpool due to their style of play, has been impressed by his rival's work since he succeeded Jurgen Klopp last summer, not least because of the Reds' quiet summer transfer window in which they only brought in Federico Chiesa in a £10m deal from Juventus.
He said: "Definitely. As a fan, I watch Liverpool more often than many other teams. They play very nice football. Arne Slot is doing particularly well.
"Going to another country is already a challenge, but going to a top club is even more difficult. I find it remarkable that Liverpool made few big purchases and that they just went with the existing group. That may also have been an advantage."
Asked if he has the key to defeating Slot, he said: "Last year we did, then we won at one point. But now it remains to be seen. I see comparisons between his Liverpool and his Feyenoord of last year when I look at his fielding.
"Letting the striker drop out, wanting to create overload in midfield, letting the goalkeeper build up with him, these are all things he did at Feyenoord as well. The difference is that he does have better players with this Liverpool, of course."
And asked how it feels to be underdogs going into the match, Bosz admitted he'd much prefer his side to be the more favoured of the two.
He said: "If I'm very honest, I prefer to be the favourite myself, because that says something about your players. We are now playing against the best team of the moment.
"If you see how they are holding their own in the Premier League and have won everything in the UEFA Champions League. Then you can say they are the favourite."
