Inspirational Chris Hoy brings entire Murrayfield crowd to its feet in emotional scenes
Six-time Olympic Gold medallist and 11-times world champion Sir Chris Hoy brought Murrayfield to a standstill with emotional scenes as he delivered the match ball for the game against Ireland. Earlier, Sir Chris was accompanied by his wife Sarra Kemp as he drove the Lead the Legends car at the front of the Scotland team bus arrival for their Six Nations clash with Ireland.
It is all the more remarkable after he made public his terminal cancer diagnosis in an interview with the Sunday Times. Having shared his personal health news, Sir Chris has launched a charity fundraiser to help people who also have terminal cancer to see it is possible to live well and lead a happy life alongside receiving a devastating diagnosis. After the anthems Sir Chris was joined on the pitch by former Scotland captain Rob Wainwright who was been cycling around the UK and Ireland for the Doddie Foundation. There were cheers around the stadium, a standing ovation and round of applause as he passed the match ball to the cycling legend.

There were tears in his eyes as Sir Chris acknowledged the crowd at welcomed him home to Edinburgh to deliver the ball to referee James Doleman.
Hollywood star Gerard Butler, who was in the crowd, was seen filming the event as Sir Chris walked off the pitch ready for the game to start.

Sir Chris is promoting his new Tour de 4 ride, which aims to help to change the perception of people living with stage 4 cancer, while also raising vital funds for UK cancer charities.
He is also a proud supporter of the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and Doddie Aid and on Sunday, the match ball he will deliver is being transported from Dublin by Doddie Aid champion Rob Wainwright.
