Inter Milan keen on Jakub Kiwior as Arsenal close in on Riccardo Calafiori
Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has emerged as a transfer target for Inter Milan.
Kiwior only joined Arsenal from Spezia for £21million in January last year but the 24-year-old could be on his way out of Emirates Stadium this summer.
Arsenal are closing in on a £40million move for Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori and Inter hope that deal will tempt the Gunners into selling Kiwior.
Calafiori would be direct competition for Kiwior as, like the Poland international, he is left footed and can play at full-back or centre-back.
Kiwior enjoyed a run in the Arsenal team at left-back last season but the arrival of Calafiori will mean Mikel Arteta is well-stocked in that position.
Jurrien Timber, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu can all play on the left of the defence, while academy graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly, who usually plays midfield, started there in last week’s friendly win against Leyton Orient and is highly regarded.
Other Italian clubs are also thought to be interested in Kiwior and AC Milan were linked with him in January.
Bologna were also credited with an interest in Kiwior, but reports in Italy claim he was unwilling to be a makeweight as part of the deal for Calafiori.
Arsenal are in a strong position with Kiwior because he still has three years left on his contract with an option for a further 12 months.
He is part of the Arsenal squad on tour in America.
