Bayer Leverkusen have made German football history by becoming the first time in Bundesliga history to go unbeaten throughout an entire season.

Saturday’s 2-1 win over Augsburg was Leverkusen’s 28th league win of the campaign, having drawn the remaining six of a 34-game season.

Victor Boniface intercepted a ball from Augsburg keeper Tomas Koubek to tap in for the lead in the 12th minute before Robert Andrich doubled the advantage from close range in the 27th. Augsburg cut the deficit with Mert Komur just past the hour.

Leverkusen wrapped up a first ever Bundesliga title last month, and are also in the finals of both the DFB-Pokal and Europa League, and remain unbeaten in both competitions.
