Ipswich Town are closing in on the transfer deadline day signing of Alex Palmer from West Bromwich Albion.

The EADT and Ipswich Star understands an initial fee of £2m has been agreed for the 28-year-old and he is on his way to Suffolk to undergo a medical.

The Blues have moved to add to their goalkeeping ranks due to Aro Muric's form and a significant groin injury suffered by Christian Walton.

Muric, an £8m summer signing from Burnley, was dropped at the start of 2025 and conceded two poor goals in Saturday's disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Southampton.

Palmer has kept 29 clean sheets in the Championship since the start of the 2023/24 season and was due to be out of contract at the Hawthorns in 18 months' time.
