Ruben Amorim will take charge of his first game as Manchester United manager when they take on Ipswich Town in the Premier League later today.

After appointing Amorim as Man United's head coach at the beginning of November, the Portuguese manager will finally be taking charge of United for the first time later today, making his debut in the dugout against relegation-battling Ipswich Town. United have been out of action for two weeks following the final international break of 2024, but it did give Amorim some time to work with his squad ahead of today's clash.

United sat 13th in the Premier League table heading into the weekend, but just four points separated Amorim's side and third place, showing just how close the standings are. Ahead of the international break, Ipswich won their first Premier League game of the season against Spurs, giving them a boost ahead of the clash with United.

So, could Amorim get off to a winning start as Man United manager later today? Let's take a look...

Ipswich Town vs Man United score predicted

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the hosts could line up in a 3-4-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Muric; Tuanzebe, O'Shea, Burgess; Johnson, Morsy, Cajuste, Davis; Hutchinson, Delap, Szmodics.

We predict that United could set up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Onana; De Ligt, Evans, Martinez; Mazraoui, Mainoo, Ugarte, Dalot; Amad, Fernandes; Rashford.

In a new set-up under Amorim, United were dominant in the early stages of the game, with the visitors controlling possession as they looked to break down Ipswich's blunt defence. 28 minutes in, Marcus Rashford was tripped inside the box as a penalty was awarded, and Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take, firing his spot kick down the middle to make it 1-0.

Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui were heavily involved in the attacking third at Portman Road, and the latter almost made it 2-0 when his long-range effort was pushed onto the post. Ipswich enjoyed a spell of control just after the restart, but as they started to gain confidence, a swift United counterattack saw Amorim's side double their lead.

Matthijs de Ligt made a tremendous 60-yard pass across the pitch to pick out the run of Dalot on the left, and a one-two with Rashford saw the defender surge past his marker and towards the byline. His cut-back into the box was met by Fernandes, and a lovely first-time finish caught the 'keeper flat-footed as United went two goals ahead.

With a strong grip on the game, United were able to see out the three points in Amorim's first match as United manager.
