All-Ireland intermediate football final postponed due to 'tragic event'
Sunday's All-Ireland intermediate football final between Ballinderry and Crossmolina has been postponed due to a 'tragic event' at the Mayo club.
Croke Park was due to host the decider as part of a triple header of club final action at the weekend, but the game will now be refixed by the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC).
Crossmolina GAA released a statement on Friday. It read: "Crossmolina Deel Rovers are devastated at the news of the tragic incident that has occurred. Our heartfelt thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time.

"We have been in contact with our members involved, and they have requested that we all understand their need for privacy at this incredibly difficult time.
"Our Intermediate All-Ireland Final game, schedule for this Sunday the 12th has been postponed and we will announce a rescheduled fixture once confirmed. Our club will be issueing no further statement at this time."
The GAA issued a statement on Friday morning: “Due to a tragic event, the AIB GAA Football All-Ireland Intermediate Club Championship Final between Crossmolina Deel Rovers and Ballinderry is postponed.
“The CCCC will confirm the re-fixture details in due course.”
Crossmolina defeated Kildare’s Caragh in the semi-final, while Ballinderry powered home against Kerry’s Austin Stacks, reports the Irish Mirror.
Ballinderry were All-Ireland senior champions in 2002, succeeding Crossmolina.
The other ties will go ahead at Croke Park on Sunday. They are the All-Ireland intermediate hurling final, featuring Cork’s Watergrasshill and Galway’s Tynagh Abbey-Dunirty and the All-Ireland junior final which sees Kilkenny’s St. Lachtain’s face Cork Russell Rovers.
