'It’s irrelevant' - Michael Duff sends warning to Huddersfield Town stars amid fine run of form
Boss Michael Duff is refusing to get carried away, despite Huddersfield Town's stellar League One form. A hard-earned win away to promotion rivals Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday evening extended their unbeaten run to 15 matches.
Fourth-placed Town were due to visit relegation-threatened Shrewsbury Town this weekend but the fixture was called off due to a frozen playing surface at Croud Meadow. It means the Terriers are now without a match until January 18 when they travel to Blackpool.
Speaking prior to the Shrews clash being called off, Duff said: “After the Rotherham game, we were going to miss out on the play-offs – I don’t worry about what other people think.

“We lost seven out of eight earlier in the season, and we were dead and buried, we were nobodies, so just get your head down and work, don’t worry about other people. The other teams could lose every game, but if you don’t win enough games, it’s irrelevant.
“Football now is so reactive of result to result, and in my job, you’ve got to take emotion out of it – what have the performances been like? Where are the team at, in terms of the framework of the team? Where are the team at in terms of mentality? Performances, fitness, all those sort of things, because it can soon change.
“We’ve got a really tough couple of weeks coming up, you lose a couple of those games and it’s the end of the world again. I think it was the best start in 48 years after four games, and then lose seven out of eight – I think I’ve stayed pretty consistent through.
“I’m not trying to pay lip service, it’s the way that I work. We work a half at a time, just keep trying to win the next one. We’re nearly two points a game, you set that at the start of the season and you won’t be far away. If someone’s better than you then someone’s better than you, but we’ve got to keep maintaining that pace, which is only reliant on us.”
