Isaiah Jones is in Luton to finalise a transfer that will see him end his four-and-a-half year stay at Middlesbrough.

Luton Town pushed hard to sign the 25-year-old this month and he has been given permission by Boro to travel to Bedfordshire and complete a move. He has been undergoing a medical and is expected to agree personal terms without any complications.

The exact fee agreed is not known, though reports elsewhere have suggested it will be a deal worth up to £5 million for Boro with add-ons. Though Jones remained a popular member of the Boro squad and was by no means forced out of the club, he has been allowed to explore the move closer to home after a difficult couple of years on and off the field.

With the emergence of Ben Doak this season, he's struggled for as much game-time as he would have liked - making just two starts since September for Michael Carrick's side. While Doak's own future remains up in the air right now as Premier League interest remains in him, the two situations were viewed as seperate by Boro because it was always appreciated that, regardless of Jones leaving or not, Doak would need replacing if he were to leave.

Coming into the window with their squad at maximum size, Jones's departure will create a gap which could allow Boro to strengthen their own options. With other right wing options behind Doak, it remains to be seen whether they use the gap to sign another forward, look to strengthen another area of Carrick's side, or take a breath for now, as they assess how the month pans out - particularly with regard to interest in Doak and star striker Emmanuel Latte Lath.

Boro are believed to have targets in mind this month should things move in a way that allows them to do business, or requires them to in the event of a big departure.
