Around 75 runners took part in an alternative 10km run StubbingNOT, organised by Wight Tri.

The event took place on Sunday, January 12, after the popular Stubbington 10km road race sold out quickly on the mainland, which usually hosts around 2,000 competitors.

Wight Tri provided this alternative event for those who missed out.

The run, which took place between Yaverland to Shanklin along the seafront and back, was an informal affair with no timing or marshals.

Wight Tri provided post-run refreshments and organised a collection for Mountbatten.

A spokesman said: "The ethos is for no timing, no marshals, no entry fee, just an opportunity to run collectively with old and new friends."

Before setting off, Wight Tri chair Jack Elton-Walters and secretary Arielle Elton-Walters had the important task of pulling a name out the hat for a London Marathon place awarded to the club for eligible members.

The successful winner was Craig Wilson who had his second win when he was the first man back over the finish line. First lady was Alisha Hutchinson not too far behind.

David Anderson and Claire Squirrell were awarded the Duathletes of the Year trophy at the end of the run.

The East Cowes Duathlon is Wight Tri's next event, taking place on Sunday, January 26.
