New Island netball league gets off to a flying start
A new netball league has launched on the Isle of Wight.
The Island Netball League began on Sunday, January 19, with over 60 players from eight teams hitting the court for the first time.
The league, formed under England Netball, has been established by a committee aiming to provide "fun and friendly, yet competitive" netball for the Island.
Roz Davitt, chair of Island Netball League Committee said: "It was fantastic to see so many players, old and new, on court on Sunday.
"A big thank you to everyone on the committee for all the work behind the scenes to bring the league to life, and to the teams, the umpires and supporters for their dedication.
"We are looking forward to the rest of the season and for what’s to come!"
Island Netball League will offer regular matches and training sessions throughout the year.
The league hopes to boost netball participation on the island and foster a community of players and supporters and is welcoming both existing teams and individual players to join.
