Islander achieves international success in ice dance event in Poland
ISLAND-born ice dancer Anneliese Smith showed she was a cool customer on a rink by achieving impressive international success in Poland.
Anneliese, who now trains in Guildford and Gosport, following the closure of Ryde Arena eight years ago, competed against skaters from more than seven countries.
She achieved personal best scores in pattern dances and her free dance.
Annaliese went on to earn her a junior standard test score for her pattern dances.

This placed her sixth overall, with a combined score of 110 points.
Anneliese and her family moved to Gosport from the Island five years ago, to be close to the Gosport ice rink.
One of the Isle of Wight Ice Dance and Figure Skating Club coaches said: "Three times personal bests and test scores. We couldn’t be happier for Anneliese.
"Her dedication and drive is always amazing.

"Massive well done to all the skaters and good to see familiar faces, all cheering each other on.
"British Ice Skating should be proud of our international solo dancers."
