'It'll get done' - Liverpool given fresh hope for Mohamed Salah contract renewal
Mohamed Salah will sign a new contract with Liverpool to stay with the club next season, Steve McManaman believes. The former Reds hero announced his sincerest message of hope whilst commentating over Wednesday's match against PSV Eindhoven.
Salah was one of 12 regular first-team starters left back on Merseyside as the team embarked on their latest Champions League assignment of the league phase. Liverpool fell to defeat in his absence, though remained top of the standings regardless.
Slot had confirmed those left back home would be given extra rest this week, and in the Egyptian's case perhaps it was additional time to sit down with club chiefs in an attempt to resolve his contract which is due to expire at the season's end.

"I think so, yes. I don’t know anything, I must admit. I want him to stay, of course I do, and I think it’ll get done. I really do," McManaman answered on TNT Sports when asked his opinion on Salah being a Liverpool player on the opening day of the 2025/26 campaign.
He added: "He can carry on then going for more records to break. That’s the most important thing. That’s what he’s obsessed with - breaking records, winning trophies, winning plaudits and his own individual trophies, whether that’s Ballon d’Ors, Golden Boots, leagues.
"I think that’s what he wants to do. I hope that’s at Liverpool next season."
No accord has been reached between the 32-year-old and Anfield chiefs despite negotiations throughout the season. When asked most recently, the player himself said this season appears to be his last with the club.
At the start of January Salah commented: "Do I believe this is my last season? So far, yeah. It's the last six months. There is nothing, no progress there and we are far away from any progress, so we just need to wait and see.
"I think the thing in my head is like: OK if this is your last six months or year, what do you want to see in the future? Do you want to look back and say I was concerned about the contract or stressed? Or just that I had an unbelievable season? That is in my head now all the time.
"If I think there is any kind of distraction, I remind myself I want to look back and say I had an unbelievable season. So that is what I want to do.
"It's in my head to be fair [to be remembered as the best] but if you win the trophy and you are probably going to be up there, so hopefully I can make the difference, make the team win the trophy and whatever when I end my career, there is always going to be a discussion."
