Liverpool produced a 'You'll Never Walk Alone' for the ages to say goodbye to Jürgen Klopp. The manager looked visibly emotional on the sidelines as Anfield serenaded him with its famous anthem.

Ahead of kick-off, Klopp insisted to Sky Sports that he had woken up in 'game mode'. He even revealed that he had apologized to Liverpool players that the week had been made all about him, before proceeding to hold a normal team meeting.

But Anfield was never going to treat this as a normal fixture. Indeed, for almost everybody lucky enough to be inside the ground, the match is little more than a sideshow.

And it did not take long for the emotion to get to Klopp. The rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone was always likely to be one of the most poignant moments, and so it proved, with the manager clearly moved by the song.

He could be seen laughing and pointing at something during the early parts of the serenade, but as the music swelled, it was clear that the magnitude of the occasion, and of all he has achieved over the last eight-and-a-half years, really dawned on him. Though he will no doubt be back in other capacities in future, this was the last time he heard a pre-game You'll Never Walk Alone as manager of the club.

Liverpool.com says: You'll Never Walk Alone has always been special, and will continue to be so after Klopp. But the song has been granted even more power over this special era, as the manager has reignited the connection between the team and the fans.

The images of the players, coaches and manager singing it with the Kop after that special Barcelona night will always bring back emotions. Maybe that was playing through Klopp's head as he heard it one last time.
