Liverpool cruised into a 4-0 lead against Spurs as Jürgen Klopp's attackers found their form again. Goals from Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo and a stunner from Harvey Elliott made it an easy afternoon.

But Liverpool did concede twice — through Richarlison and Son Heung-Min — to offer Ange Postecoglou's side some hope in the contest. The Reds regained their composure, though, and Tottenham was deservedly beaten.

"The changes we made, would I do exactly the same again? I’m not sure!" Klopp said post-match. "But Macca [Alexis Mac Allister] played all the time, going up and down, up and down; [with] Wataru [Endō], you have Stefan [Bajčetić] who looks really good in training.

"But today obviously you saw, he comes on and it’s like you arrive on the motorway with your bicycle. It takes time again to adapt to it... first ball not great, then you go down [a goal], all of a sudden, the organization was gone.

"That’s not helpful. Then they were then flying. We had that game before [in last season’s 4-3], a similar game before, they are just really good. But we controlled them for so long, that’s obviously most important. Somebody else can sort that next season!"

Bajčetić was far from the only one to look like he didn't get up to speed in the game but it is understandable after so long out that he would need time to adjust. There were some good moments from him, but the pace of the Spurs attack proved hard to deal with.

The Spanish midfielder has been out injured for most of the season. This was just his third appearance at senior level in the campaign after previously playing against Leicester in the Carabao Cup and LASK in the Europa League.

Bajčetić has made three appearances at U21 level for Liverpool as he increases his match sharpness. Against Manchester United at Old Trafford, he played half an hour, before getting half a game against Sunderland and a full hour against Arsenal.

Liverpool.com says: Bajčetić didn't look up to speed here but Liverpool should not forget just how big a talent he is. Next season, after a full summer where he can rebuild his fitness and his match sharpness, the 19-year-old will be a huge asset.

As Arne Slot looks to put his own stamp on things, it will be interesting to see how he wants to configure his midfield. There will be a decision to be made on where Alexis Mac Allister is best, for instance. Bajčetić's high potential should factor into that, with his talent sufficient to think that the midfield can be built around him in the next few seasons.
