The Jürgen Klopp era is now over at Liverpool after an emotional afternoon at Anfield. Klopp bid farewell after nine years at the helm in Sunday's win over Wolves with his family joining in the celebrations.

Klopp managed to hold it together during his speech to the Anfield crowd at full-time but skipper Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold were among those reduced to tears as the reality of his exit set in.

The German's wife Ulla was visibly moved as he made his way back out onto the pitch, with the pair having really taken to the city since their arrival in 2015.

Ulla was seen having a chat with a Liverpool employee in a quiet corridor while the game was going on, reports the Liverpool ECHO. It is claimed the staff member asked her if she was feeling OK, before Ulla emotionally replied: "No, not really."

Klopp previously revealed that his wife had played a huge role in him deciding to stay at Liverpool when he signed a new contract in 2022. "I stay for another two years," he announced after extending his contract till 2026.

"Why is now the question? Because Ulla wants to stay and, as a good husband, what are you doing when your wife wants to stay? You are staying."

"What is very important and is probably the most important — because I could not work against that and wouldn't want to work against it — is that my family, in this case especially Ulla, she just loves it here," stated Klopp. He added: "The most important contract in my life I signed is the one with Ulla."

Klopp and his wife have been constructing a new holiday home in Mallorca and are expected to spread their time between there, and back in Germany after leaving Liverpool this summer.

Liverpool.com says: Klopp's wife Ulla has had a huge impact on the local community during her time in Liverpool. She made considerable donations during the Covid-19 pandemic and was also influential in him signing a new deal. The couple have brought so much joy to the city and will never be forgotten.
