Jack Draper is hoping for more success at the Australian Open today as he faces Alexsandar Vukic in the third round.

The British mens No.1 survived a big first round scare against Mariano Navone before battling from behind to defeat Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis on Wednesday. That thrilling clash with Kokkinakis saw him hit with boos and jeers by the hostile home crowd, and he will have to overcome it again today as he takes on another Australian hopeful.

This is the first time that Draper has made it past the second round in Melbourne, and he will be hoping he can emulate his sensational run to the US Open semi-final last year. That campaign saw him climb up the world rankings and won him a new legion of fans, with the 23-year-old emerging as somewhat of a heartthrob.

In fact, aside from his talent on the court, tennis fans have also taken a firm interest in Draper's activity off of it, particularly his second career as a model and his relationship status.

In a recent interview with The Times, the London-born star addressed both topics, firstly admitting that he is "not a massive fan" of modelling despite being signed to major agency IMG since he was 18.

Draper has gone on to model for fashion giants Vogue and Tatler, while he was also spotted in the front row at London Fashion week last year, sat next to legendary Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Despite this, however, the tennis ace has admitted that, aside from a few "really cool" projects, his second career is not always enjoyable.

"All this model stuff, I like doing it at the time, but I’m not a massive fan of it in all honesty," he told the newspaper as he reflected on posing shirtless after starting out in modelling. “I did some stuff I wasn’t actually comfortable with at the time. They’re great photos, don’t get me wrong, but if I was to go back in time I should have been more educated.”

His model looks have seen Draper linked with several rumoured admirers, including American influencer KT Lordahl. During his run to the US Open semi-final, American sports website The Spun reported that 22-year-old Lordahl - who is also a model and boasts over one million Instagram followers - was in attendance for every one of his matches, sparking romance rumours.

The Brit has also been romantically linked to fellow tennis star and 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu. Born just a year apart, they have been good friends for a long-time, but their close relationship has previously led to suggestions they were dating.

However, Draper has played down such links and revealed in his Times interview that he is currently single and not a fan of 'time-consuming' dating apps, with his focus on tennis for the time being.

“I’ve been lucky in my life to have a couple of really amazing connections with people,” he said. “For me, it’s more about someone who has got ambition, their own purpose in life, who’s non-judgmental, someone with good values.”

“The most important thing to me right now is becoming the best tennis player I can be, especially the way the world is at the moment with all that [dating app] stuff. I’d rather meet someone out of genuine, almost coincidence, or when I’m focused on something else.”

On his relationship with Raducanu, Draper added: "She has always been there for me. I’ve always been there for her,” he said. “She’s extremely bubbly, very kind, very thoughtful, always giggling, really smart. A really, really, really good girl.”
