Jack Grealish Man City transfer latest as Eddie Howe confirms Newcastle United stance
The future of Jack Grealish will be a developing topic as Manchester City navigate 2025, given he went throughout the whole of 2024 without scoring a Premier League goal.
The £100million signing has left supporters frustrated with his lack of output, having yet to score in 18 club outings this season. Pep Guardiola has rotated Grealish a number of times this campaign, which has led to him starting just six of his 13 league matches.
As a result, transfer talk around the 29-year-old is growing, despite the winger being contracted to Man City until 2027. The Manchester Evening News takes a look at the latest updates on the speculation.

Spurs and Newcastle linked
Both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have been connected with holding interest in Grealish. It is unlikely that Newcastle will approach him this January, at the very least, due to their careful stance on finances within spending regulations.
Spurs perhaps have more scope, but an outright mid-season purchase seems slim. And Daniel Levy would likely require City to cover a large proportion of Grealish’s hefty wages via a loan spell for a January deal to be secured. Both Spurs and Newcastle could revisit him in the summer.
Howe confirms Newcastle stance
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was asked about the potential of spending big bucks on Grealish. He said: “I don't believe currently we have [the financial capability] but we're not really concentrating on incomings.”
It is unclear what fee Man City would demand for their nine-figure 2021 recruit - who has won three Premier League titles and the Champions League - in the summer. Newcastle would likely be hard-pressed to offer anything substantial as things stand.
Man City stance
As for January, Grealish does seem to be staying at the Etihad Stadium. MEN Sport understands the odds for Grealish leaving the club are extremely low.
Man City have been stretched for squad numbers at frequent stages this season, and the exit of Grealish would not help matters. While goalless this season, he provided assists in the narrow 2-1 League Cup win over Watford and the 1-1 draw at Newcastle in September.
