Jack Walker will return to the Championship this season, with the former Hull FC full-back signing for Sheffield Eagles. The 25-year-old revealed on social media earlier this week that he has secured a move for the 2025 season, with Rugby League Live understanding that the club is the Eagles, who are now coached by former Batley Bulldogs and Castleford boss Craig Lingard.

Walker was released from the Black and Whites back in November, with the player searching for a new club ever since—documenting his situation and fitness progress on his TikTok page. And now, after an extensive process that at one stage saw him hold talks with debut outfit Leeds Rhinos, he has secured his next move, joining a former Black and White teammate in Morgan Smith at the club, who was also released from Hull two months ago.

Walker, who revealed he is currently at his heaviest ever playing weight, a fact that he hopes will help him stay fit this year, will now drop down to the sport's second tier, a level he has played at before with Bradford Bulls. Training on his own throughout the winter, the player held talks with the South Yorkshire-based outfit this week and has now completed his move to the club, who finished seventh in the Championship last season.

Sheffield, meanwhile, will be Walker's fifth different club of his career. He won the 2017 Super League Grand Final with Leeds as a teenager and, either side of spells at Bradford and Hull KR, had two stints at Hull FC. To date, he has 113 career appearances to his name, including one game for England Knights. He has scored 37 tries.
