Jackson out, Fofana in training - Chelsea injury news and return dates ahead of Brighton clash
Chelsea travel to Brighton for the second time in the space of a week as they take on the Seagulls in the Premier League on Friday night. The Blues were beaten 2-1 on the south coast on Saturday to be dumped out of the FA Cup at the fourth round stage.
Back in Premier League action, the Blues are looking to make it back-to-back wins and maintain their position in the top four. However, they will have to do so without their main striker with Nicolas Jackson ruled out through injury.
Jackson's absence adds to a growing injury list for Enzo Maresca to deal with in the second half of the campaign. Here football.london takes a look at the injury situation and when players are expected to return to the pitch.

Nicolas Jackson
We'll start with the centre-forward, who picked up an injury in the seond half of the win over West Ham two weeks ago. He played no part against Brighton in the FA Cup and will be sidelined for some time now.
What Maresca has said : "As you already know, Nico will be out until the international break; probably available after the international break. We knew it was a muscular problem but we didn't know how important it was. His reaction was quite good so we all thought that was not a big injury but unfortunately he had the scan a few days ago and it was important one. He will be around six or eight weeks."
Return date : April 2
Romeo Lavia
The midfielder has missed large chunks of this season but is closing in on a return to action. However, it could be similar to Jackson when it comes to his actual return date from a thigh injury.
What Maresca has said : "Romeo Lavia is in the process to be back with us. He is still a little way off. I think he could be the same as Nico and looking at after the international break for a return."
Return date : April 2
Benoit Badiashile
The defender has been out since gameweek 16 with a hamstring injury, although he was in and out of the team prior to that, struggling to nail down a regular starting spot in Maresca's defence. Given the injury problems, though, his return would be welcome.
What Maresca has said : "Benoit Badiashile exactly the same [as Lavia], he is in the process to be back with us."
Return date : April 2
Marc Guiu
With Jackson injured this could have been the perfect time for Marc Guiu to prove his worth. However, the young striker has also been sidelined with a hamstring injury, giving Maresca a selection heache up front.
What Maresca has said : "Marc Guiu also will be out for a while. I think it is a hamstring injury."
Return date : April 2
Mykhailo Mudryk
The winger has been out since December after being provisionally suspended for a failed drugs test. The investigation into the situation is ongoing, with Chelsea supporting the player through the process.
What Maresca has said : "It has already happened in the past. I think they know exactly what they have to do and this is the reason that we trust and support Mykhailo. If you say trust, what does it mean? We trust Mykhailo, and we support Mykhailo and trust means that we believe Mykhailo, we trust Mykhailo and we support him."
Return date : Unknown
Wesley Fofana
Wesley Fofana has not had the best time of it injuries wise since arriving at Chelsea in 2022. But his injury nightmare could soon be coming to an end as he works his way back to full fitness. He is back in training with the first team and closing in on a Premier League return.
What Maresca has said : "Wes Fofana started to work with us two days ago - that means he will need two or three weeks to be 100% fit but at least he has started to work with us."
Return date : March 16
