Jacob Ramsey comments on Aston Villa injury problems after Brighton return
Jacob Ramsey has taken to social media to toast his return to the Aston Villa first team – and a more fortuitous 2025.
The midfielder played the final 13 minutes of Villa’s 2-2 draw with Brighton on Monday night, coming on as a late substitute for Leon Bailey.
That was his first appearance in more than three months after sustaining a hamstring injury at Liverpool in September. That was the latest set-back in a difficult 18 months for the Birmingham-born midfielder.

Ramsey picked up a metatarsal injury playing for England Under-21s in July 2023, only to pick up another toe problem in March. He started this campaign and played in the first ten Premier League matches before his latest set-back.
However, having ended 2024 playing again he is now looking forward, posting on his Instagram page: “Not been the easiest year at times, but being back on the pitch last night felt good. Determined and focused to make 2025 a good one. Thank you for all your support as always.”
Ramsey will be in the squad to face Leicester City this weekend and could start the FA Cup match with West Ham on Friday, January 10. So far he has made 138 appearances for Villa, scoring 14 times and providing 14 assists.
