Jadon Sancho set to fly out for Borussia Dortmund medical to end Manchester United exile

Jadon Sancho's loan move from Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund is near to being finalised.

The 23-year-old winger is due to fly to Germany in the next 48 hours to complete his medical and sign a contract to return to his former club.

United are expected to bank around £3.5million for the six-month loan but must pay around 60 per cent of his £250,000-a-week wages.

Dortmund may, however, have to pay further bonuses depending on his performance.

Since September, Sancho has been training away from United’s first-team after a falling out with Erik ten Hag.

His last appearance for United came in August and he hasn’t started a competitive match since the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City last season.

Sancho has refused to apologise to Ten Hag, prolonging his exile to four months.

United rejected bids from Dortmund and Saudi club Al-Ettifaq on deadline day, when they demanded £65m, but have since lowered their demands.

Sancho is believed to have kept himself fit and hopes to be training with Dortmund this week as they kick off the second half of their season away at Darmstadt on Saturday.

He returns to Dortmund after gaining prominence in a four-year stint at the Westfalenstadion, winning the German Super Cup and DFB-Pokal before earning a £73m move to Old Trafford.

The German giants have underperformed this season and are fifth in the Bundesliga table.

Dortmund are also set to announce the signing of Ian Maatsen on loan from Chelsea, with Champions League qualification a key target.
