Liverpool is set to bid farewell to Jürgen Klopp on the final day of the season. And while the Reds don't have anything to play for, the Premier League title race will go down to the wire in controversial circumstances.

Manchester City is favorite to go on and win the title but Jamie Carragher has slammed the reigning champions and the Premier League for failing to deal with its 115 FFP charges. Meanwhile, Liverpool is considering defensive reinforcements but will face competition from Manchester United. Here is the latest round-up of news from Liverpool.

Jamie Carragher hits out at Man City

Ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says the failure to deal with Manchester City's FFP charges is an 'embarrassment' for the club and the Premier League. City could win a fourth successive title this weekend by beating West Ham at the Etihad.

The title charge has been conducted against the backdrop of 115 charges for alleged financial wrongdoing. City denies the allegations and the case could be heard after the end of the season.

Liverpool has challenged City for the title during the period in question and Carragher believes it is farcical the issue remains ongoing, with Arsenal going into the final day in second spot.

He writes in his column for The Telegraph: "Arsenal, just like Liverpool, also had to overcome another disadvantage in pursuit of top spot which cannot be ignored, no matter how much Guardiola, City and the Premier League wish to sweep it under the carpet.

"City knows the time taken to deal with this matter is an embarrassment for them and the Premier League. City will never escape the shadow of those allegations until they are dealt with. It is a PR disaster."

Liverpool 'enters race' for $109m Man Utd target

Liverpool is reportedly considering a move for Benfica defender António Silva once the season finishes. The 20-year-old only made his first-team debut last season but has enjoyed another fine campaign.

Silva is expected to be part of the Portugal squad for the European Championships and he could have a busy summer after the tournament too. According to Fichajes, Liverpool and Manchester United are both keen on his services, as is Bayern Munich.

The Reds have confirmed that Joël Matip will leave on a free transfer when his contract expires and a replacement is likely to be sought. United has also had defensive issues all season and will let Raphaël Varane go. Silva's price tag is huge though, with Benfica reportedly likely to demand around $109m (£86m/€100m) to let him go.
