Jamie Carragher admits he's concerned about Liverpool's defensive capabilities, and believes it could have a major impact on the Reds' Premier League title fate. Arne Slot's side have not been at their best at the back across recent weeks, having kept just four clean sheets in their last 14 matches.

The Reds last recorded a shutout during their 4-0 win over Tottenham on Thursday, February 6 and have conceded six in their four games since then. Liverpool looked a tad flaky during their 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Wednesday night and it's not a surprise that Carragher is worried that their recent defensive record could let them down.

Asked what could stop possibly Liverpool from winning the Premier League this season, Carragher told Sky Sports: "Defensively [it could impact Liverpool]. They're starting to creak a little bit at the back, they've only kept four clean sheets, one of those was Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup.

"I think they're an injury away from having a problem defensively. [Joe] Gomez is out so they've got Jarell Quansah as cover for their two centre-backs and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

"If they get an injury or two in their back-line, it can cause them a problem because I think Arsenal defensively are better than Liverpool. But I think Liverpool are a lot better than Arsenal going forward."

Despite Carragher's concern, Liverpool could go 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League with a win over Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. Arsenal's 1-0 defeat against West Ham has opened up the chance for the Reds to, arguably, put one hand on the title.

Liverpool's fixtures - after the home game against Newcastle United on Wednesday night - also look promising. Southampton, Everton, West Ham, Fulham and Leicester are their next five in the Premier League and there is a realistic chance the Reds could win all of those matches.
