Jamie Carragher sends clear instruction to Ruben Amorim amid worrying Man United prediction
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has insisted Ruben Amorim should not change his philosophy at Manchester United despite a mixed bag of results so far.
United currently find themselves in a rut after three straight losses since the derby day victory over Manchester City. Since Amorim arrived, the Reds have used a 3-4-2-1 formation which has increased the team's possession but has yet to make major improvements to their results.
This has led to some speculation as to whether Amorim will choose to alter his philosophy for short-term gain. But Carragher is of the opinion that United need to stick with the Portuguese's formation even if results could be painful between now and the end of the season.

"The worrying thing for Man United is that it could actually get worse before it gets better," Carragher explained on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. "I think that might be the process they are actually going through now.
"The manager has said he's not for changing his system and I think he is right to do that, not to sort of adapt. He's been brought in for a reason, to play that system and to provide at United what he provided in Lisbon with Sporting and the success they had.
"I think it would be wrong to change, but that means I think he may have to go through a little bit more pain." United have chosen to start both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee against Newcastle with Marcus Rashford returning to the bench after a spell out of the squad.
