Jamie Carragher sends FSG clear transfer demand after Liverpool draw with Nottingham Forest
Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool should have beat Nottingham Forest as he vented about the team's defensive frailties. The former Reds vice captain went as far to demand FSG make a new signing for Arne Slot.
Liverpool were forced to come from behind against their third-place opponents, Diogo Jota the hero from the bench after Chris Wood had netted inside the opening 10 minutes. By the end the Reds had mustered 17 more attempts on goal than Forest, yet multiple key saves from Matz Sels ensured the points would be shared at the City Ground.
This was enough for Carragher to take to X, where the former Anfield hero made his frustration with the dropped points known. He began: "Liverpool should’ve won tonight, but they continue to create big chances even in the games they don’t win."

He added: "But the defensive solidity they had at the start of the season has gone. Always look likely to concede."
To start the campaign Slot's revolution began with only eight goals conceded in the 12 Premier League matches up until the end of November, coincidentally when Ibrahima Konate suffered his six-week injury. In eight more matches since they have conceded 12, keeping only two clean sheets in that run.
Wood's strike tonight was one of three Forest attempts on target in a match they held only 29 percent possession.
So, with the January transfer window still active Carragher ended with one definitive request for owners FSG: "Buy a defender!!!!"
The majority of the campaign has seen captain Virgil van Dijk command the back line with Trent Alexander-Arnold also a mainstay. Both are out of contract at the end of the season.
Andy Robertson has also kept his left back spot regularly, though like tonight Slot has not been afraid to rotate to Kostas Tsimikas. Throughout the campaign the club have also been linked to numerous players in the positions such as Fulham's Antonee Robinson, Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez and Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies.
Then there is Ibrahima Konate, who when not injured would be the natural pick alongside Van Dijk. When not fit Joe Gomez was brought into the team until he too became injured, Jarell Quansah is another option and defensive midfielder Wataru Endo has also been utilised in defence this season.
Lastly, Alisson took his place in goal back from Caoimhin Kelleher after returning from injury. The club have already agreed a £30m deal to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili in the summer.
