Time to join the Vardy Party?

Possibly the forgotten man of fantasy football, Jamie Vardy may have snuck under your fantasy radar. Until now that is!

Having netted four goals in his first five Premier League games so far, as well as being on penalty duty for Leicester (two from two already converted), he looks to be in party mood for the early part of this season.

Understandably, he may not have had fantasy managers as interested last season, given the Foxes drop in title-winning form. In the 2015-16 season, he scored 24 goals in 36 appearances, and although less prolific, last season was certainly not a bad return of 13 in 35 games. Particularly in a side that lost form, had doubts over their top players remaining and lost their title-winning manager mid-season.

Interestingly, Vardy has bagged 10 goals in the 16 Premier League games since Craig Shakespeare took over. Furthermore, apart from his clinical ability in front of goal, he’s had a hand in the wider team’s play by averaging nine assists across his three full seasons in the top-flight.

Surely, he can only build upon this great start. Shakespeare has brought some more stability back to Leicester. They have a strong and very tall mountain of a backline now with Maguire, Morgan and Huth trying to sure up the defence.

Riyad Mahrez has stayed at the King Power too, hoping to reignite their title-winning partnership of two seasons ago. And with the addition of yet another pacey attacker in Kelechi Iheanacho from Man City, Vardy has the potential to be yet again a bargain for the shrewd fantasy football manager.

Craig Shakespeare confirmed that Vardy is fit to play against Liverpool after missing out against the Reds in midweek because of a groin injury. Following the Liverpool game, Leicester face Bournemouth, West Brom, Swansea and then Everton.
