Jarrad Branthwaite is hoping that Charly Alcaraz can bring some dynamism to Everton’s attack and revealed he is loving life under David Moyes. Everton signed Alcaraz on loan from Flamengo for the rest of the 2024/25 season, with an option to buy.

The 22-year-old, who has previously played in the Premier League with Southampton, was David Moyes’ first signing since he returned to the club last month. The Argentine came off the bench in the 2-0 FA Cup home defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

He made a positive impression and hit the post with a 30-yard free-kick while also injecting some much-needed urgency into midfield. Following his impressive cameo, some supporters are hoping to see the Argentina Under-23 international start against Liverpool on Wednesday night.

And reacting to Alcaraz’s debut, Branthwaite told Radio Merseyside: "He looked bright with this free-kick and a couple of link-up plays on the edge of the box. Hopefully he can add to our team and create that dynamism in the middle."

Saturday’s defeat brought an end to Everton’s three-game winning run. Branthwaite has so far played every minute of his side’s games under Moyes, and the England international is loving life under the Scot.

He said: “It's going really well; I'm enjoying the way him and his staff are putting the sessions on and trying to make us play.

“We've got an idea when we go out on the pitch of how we're wanting to play and how we're trying to deal with each team, so it's been good. I'm looking forward to working under him more and learning from him.”

Next up for the Blues is the small matter of the final Merseyside derby to be played at Goodison. Arne Slot's side will make the journey across Stanley Park looking to stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League table to nine points.

However, the Blues can take heart from the fact they claimed a 2-0 victory in last season’s fixture. And Branthwaite believes there is no reason why his side can’t pick up another three points against their rivals.

“I think everyone's looking forward to it,” he said. “It'll be a big atmosphere and a big game and for me, it's just it's a game everyone wants to play in. But it's just another game and we've got to be focused for it.

“Through Monday and Tuesday now, we've got to be ready, we've got to be on it, and then you know, take it on Wednesday. We know we can beat them, we know what happened last season.

“We take confidence from that and take confidence from the previous results that we've had in the last three or four games and go into it with momentum.”
