Jarrod Bowen has sent a fresh message to West Ham teammate Michail Antonio after the striker was hospitalised following a car accident earlier this month.

The incident took place in Epping, Essex on December 7 and the Jamaica international had to be released from his car in what was described as a "miracle" escape. The 34-year-old has since undergone surgery on a lower limb fracture and it was revealed he would spend a number of weeks in hospital as he recovers from multiple injuries.

In a press release shared by the club on Tuesday, it was revealed they will donate close to £60,000 to the NHS and Air Ambulance UK charities following an auction of match worn items from their recent Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The auction took place following Antonio's accident and included walk-out tops, signed by every member of the squad and every match-worn shirt from the victory over Wolves.

The auction raised £29,613 which was subsequently matched by the club's board, leaving a final total of £59,226. Among the highest-performing items was captain and match winner Bowen’s signed match-worn shirt, which raised raise £3005.

“It’s been special to see the West Ham family and the wider football community come together in support of Mic over the last month," Bowen told the club website. “We are all grateful for the care that both the NHS and Air Ambulances UK have given to Mic during a challenging time for him and his family, and for what they continue to do every single day for people around the country.

“Pulling together during difficult times is what being a part of West Ham United is all about and on behalf of the team, I want to thank everyone for helping us to raise an incredible amount of money for two great causes.”
