JD McDonagh recently suffered a severe injury during WWE’s "Monday Night Raw" on Monday, Jan. 27, in Atlanta.

The WWE Judgment Day star, 34, suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung during the World Tag Team Championship match with Judgment Day's Dominik Mysterio against the War Raiders, Erik (Raymond Rowe) and Ivar (Todd James Smith).

During the match, McDonagh attempted to launch himself from the middle rope and execute a moonsault backflip to knock out one of the War Raiders. He successfully contacted Ivar but then hit the back of his head on the announcers' table.

McDonagh finished the match, but a few fans reported they saw him fall to the floor backstage.

"McDonagh is lucky he doesn’t have a damn broken neck," announcer Michael Cole said during the broadcast, per Fox News.

After the match, McDonagh posted to social media, and assured fans that he was okay. “First off, thanks to everyone for the messages and the concern. I'm good,” he began in his X post on Monday, Jan. 27.

He continued: “I've got a couple of broken ribs and a punctured lung, so I'm going to be out for a couple months. All things considered, it could have been a lot worse, so I'm grateful for that. See ya in a bit.”

He will be staying out of the ring for the foreseeable future.
