Aberdeen are set to complete their first January signing with Danish winger Jeppe Okkels to join the Dons on loan.

The Reds have agreed to an initial loan for the season with an option to extend, and Okkels will now get the chance to reunite with his former manager Jimmy Thelin.

Both were at Elfsborg together before the forward was sold to Dutch outfit Utrecht in a £3million deal last year, before joining Preston North End in the summer.

New Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom has come in and plays without wingers and so has agreed to let Okkels go to Pittodrie, reports the Daily Record.

Thelin first met Okkels when he signed the former Danish international from Silkeborg in 2020 and he had three years with him in Sweden.

Fans spotted Okkels arriving in Aberdeen last night, with pictures shared on social media of him meeting Steven Gunn at the airport.

The Dons are currently in the market for several other targets, including Kristers Tobers. Thelin is looking to strengthen his squad, which has failed to win in the last 10.
