Arsenal continue to actively look for attacking reinforcements to help Mikel Arteta deal with injury issues. The likes of Nico Williams, Bryan Mbeumo and Mathys Tel have all been linked this month, but a striker addition appears both more likely and more important.

Kai Havertz fell to his knees in exhaustion at the end of this weekend's win over Wolves with that being a clear sign that Arteta needs another forward imminently. Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak are long-term targets and now Jhon Duran and Evan Ferguson have become of interest this month.

Viktor Gyokeres and Matheus Cunha also have admirers within Emirates Stadium and therefore it appears extremely likely at least one arrives this year. That plan being brought forward and sanctioned in January could still happen with a number of options seemingly available at the right price.

With that being said, football.london's writers have taken a look at the transfer Arsenal should look to agree before Monday, February 3.

Arsenal have needed a striker for the last few seasons in all honesty, and while a panic buy in the final days of the January transfer window is not exactly the best solution, Arteta clearly needs attacking reinforcements.

Isak is certainly the dream transfer for the Gunners but there is almost no chance he joins from Newcastle in January. For a more realistic signing, Ferguson or Duran could certainly join at the right price on a permanent basis from Brighton and Aston Villa, respectively.

Cunha is another option with his Wolves future very uncertain, however he is not quite the perfect profile of centre-forward Arsenal need. Ferguson meanwhile, has struggled significantly with injuries and the last thing Arteta will want is more attackers absent.

That leaves Duran as perhaps the perfect transfer for Arsenal given his finishing ability and talismanic displays for Villa. He will also likely be open to the move given the fact Unai Emery favours Ollie Watkins currently and Villa could also do with their financial position being boosted which the sale of Duran certainly able to do that.

Arsenal have got to bring in a new No.9 before the end of the January transfer window if they want to win the Premier League title this season. It's clear the Gunners need to strengthen in that area with Gabriel Jesus out for the rest of the season and Kai Havertz struggling for consistent form.

There is an argument to suggest that Arsenal should add another wide player in the absence of Bukayo Saka, who is set to be out until the end of March with a hamstring injury. However, a centre forward is more pressing at this time with Raheem Sterling, Ethan Nwaneri, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli their wide options.

But which striker should Arsenal sign? For me, it's between one of two: Benjamin Sesko or Jhon Duran. Evan Ferguson has been mentioned as a possible target but his injury record and lack of form would concern me, while Matheus Cunha is another that has been linked but he is not an out-and-out striker.

With this in mind, I would opt for Sesko or Duran and at the moment I am swaying to the Aston Villa forward. Duran, 21, is likely to be the most expensive of the four named but he has Premier League experience, is at a good age, and has been in excellent form for Unai Emery's Villa this season, scoring 12 goals in 29 matches this season.

He is also a recognised centre forward and has all the potential to become a world class operator for years to come - something that Arsenal could benefit with. Yes, his £80million valuation is steep, but I would pay it. If the Gunners then manage to win the Premier League that would be worth the money.

Arsenal need a striker. Anyone at this stage will do. It's interesting to look at the list of potential targets and see the sheer size of them. Even Evan Ferguson - lesser linked recently but a longer-term name - is giant.

There is a sense of unpredictability to Sesko and Duran which is quite irresistible. Both players just shoot. They hit it from distance. They love a long shot and seem to play the game on their own terms at times.

There is something deeply un-Arsenal and un-Arteta about all of it. Neither player looks like they want to be tamed or controlled. This doesn't play into their thinking but it would be great fun to see.

Imagine a free spirit at the top of this chance creating Arsenal team. As true focal points they could both bring something that Arsenal don't have. It is all clean patterns and method. Mix that up and add in some fire. It could be perfect.

There is no upper limit to these prices, either. Both Sesko and Duran are young and can grow. They have immense power and talent. Even if deals have to climb above £70million they will be investments for years to come.

A striker, put simply, is what Arsenal need. An out-and-out No.9. How they resolve this with mere days of the transfer window left is going to be tricky.

Arteta says the club have been assessing their options and that is all well and good, but the Gunners don't just need a striker. They need the best striker possible. Which club in their right mind would sell them that in January?

Isak, at the current moment, is that striker, but they're going to struggle to get Newcastle to budge at the best of times. Same goes for Sporting CP with Gyokeres or RB Leipzig with Sesko.

Only one stands out from the rest and that is Duran at Villa. Yes, they seem committed to keeping the 21-year-old but his head seems to have been swayed any time he has been linked with the next step in his career. Even when West Ham came knocking he was making 'Hammers' gestures on his Instagram.

So to summarise, Duran seems most likely but it really should be Isak.

Ultimately, everyone now knows how desperate Arsenal are, so this next signing - no matter who it may be - is going to cost them big time.

Isaac Seelochan

Alexander Isak should be Arsenal's next signing, but realistically in Janaury, Matheus Cunha may be a more realistic option and a loan deal for Evan Ferguson as well would make it a very positive window.

Cunha's versatility as a winger and centre-forward would help the Gunners cover for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus when either player is injured. If both are injured, as is currently the case, then Cunha could fill Saka's shoes, with Ferguson up front.

Of course, signing Ferguson will be difficult unless it's a permanent deal. Arsenal have already reached their loan signing limit from Premier League clubs this season after acquiring Raheem Sterling and Neto in the summer.

But if they manage to offload one of them, a double deal of Cunha and Ferguson before the window closes could make it a very exciting end to the season for Arteta's team.
