Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin was unhappy at the Killie winner and demanded consistency.

Marley Watkins headed a late winner with United desperately claiming keeper Jack Walton was fouled. And Tannadice boss Goodwin said: “The real frustration is the manner of the goal we concede. I’ve watched it numerous times from lots of different angles and I can’t understand how the guys in the VAR studio don’t rule that one out.

“Or at least asked the referee to come to the monitor. Jack Walton is trying to get off the ground but it’s impossible because the Kilmarnock forward’s arm is right across his face. We’ve seen goals like that chalked off over the course of a season. It’s cost us. I always feel referees should have the final say on those game-changing decisions.”

But Killie boss Derek McInnes insisted ref David Dickinson got it spot on. He said: “The goal was scabby and untidy from their point of view. But there’s nothing controversial about it. The keeper should be stronger.

“There are different ways of winning games but at the business end of the season, we showed so many different aspects to get the job done. We stood up to them.”
