Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin hopes his recent signings can quickly bring some much-needed energy to the team but stressed his side need to relax on the ball as they bid to end their long wait for a win.

Tottenham loanee Alfie Dorrington and Danish defender Alexander Jensen made their debuts off the bench in Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat by Rangers, which made it 12 matches without victory for a side who won their first 13 games of the season.

Kristers Tobers and Jeppe Okkels have now played two matches and Thelin believes they will help his side, who aim to arrest their slump when they travel to Elgin in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

“We know the expectations to play for this club and the fans and we have to take a real big step to be more relaxed on the ball and show more of our press sense when we play in the team.

“We are in a challenging time now. We have to stick together and keep pushing.
