Joao Felix to Aston Villa transfer latest as Chelsea conduct talks before deadline
It could prove to be another transfer window near miss for Aston Villa, as far as long-term Unai Emery target and Chelsea playmaker Joao Felix is concerned. Villa are expected to have a busy 36 hours or so in front of them, before the window deadline passes on Monday evening, with plenty of deals in need of being concluded.
Felix, who could yet leave Chelsea on deadline day, isn't likely to be pitching up at Villa Park, however; the Portuguese international has admirers in Italy and a move to Serie A giants AC Milan would appear to be more likely at this moment.
Villa have a need to replenish their squad; they've allowed Jaden Philogene, Emiliano Buendia, Jhon Duran and Diego Carlos to all leave the club this month, and so far they've added Donyell Malen and young right-back Andres Garcia. Emery wants another couple of forward minded players as well as another centre half.

Moves are in the pipeline for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, as well as PSG attacker Marco Asensio - the latter is also another player who Villa and Emery have tried to bring to the club before now - while they remain in the market for a defender on deadline day. Felix, though, isn't likely to join if the other deals materialise as expected.
Milan, managed by Felix's compatriot Sergio Conceicao, are prioritising a move for Felix, 25, reports TEAMtalk. Their efforts will be strengthened by the fact that loan move for Felix to Villa is unlikely as Chelsea don't wish to strengthen a direct top four rival. Both Conceicao and Felix are managed by agent Jorge Mendes.
