Joao Felix drops subtle Chelsea transfer hint as Enzo Maresca gets answer to Cole Palmer headache
Joao Felix has shown his true colours following Chelsea's win over Morecambe in the FA Cup third round. The 25-year-old forward fired the Blues to a 5-0 victory at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon with two excellent strikes.
With a quarter of an hour left to play, Tyrique George found Felix unmarked on the edge of the opposition's box. Taking the ball in his stride, the Portugal international caught the goalkeeper flat footed and found the nearside bottom corner.
Then, just a few moments later, Felix doubled his tally with a beautifully curled effort. He fashioned a cross into the box before dropping his shoulder and shifting the ball onto his left foot.

As his marker stumbled, the Chelsea ace cut back inside and bent the ball over the goalkeeper. Despite struggling to force himself into Enzo Maresca's side this season, Felix put in a brilliant performance – in and out of possession.
After the game, he marked the victory with a celebratory post on Instagram, which quickly chalked up over 350,000 likes. Felix wrote: "Moving on to the next round [sleeping face and two football emojis]!"
Then, in an interview with club media, Felix reflected on his side's display. He said: "The plan was to take the game seriously because people can think it’s easy to play those games, but sometimes it’s not. We went to the pitch with the idea to win and to score as many as we can.
"It was difficult to score the first to be honest, but after that it was easier and we did a great match. Congratulations to all because we did great work."
Then, on his lack of minutes in the Premier League this season, Felix showed his true colours – a team player, who's prepared to stay and fight for place in the starting lineup. He added: "I try to enjoy every time I’m on the pitch, whether it’s one minute, five minutes, or 90 minutes.
"I played 90 minutes and I’m happy with that. I tried to do my best and help the team. The only way to do it is to keep working, and when they need me, I will be there to help the team."
Speaking to reporters after the game, Maresca was asked whether Felix and Christopher Nkunku have been 'knocking on his door' for more game time. The Chelsea boss said: "No, they didn't knock the door.
"They didn't ask nothing but they don't need to ask; you can see that they show, like tonight, but two games against Ipswich we start with Joao and Christo. In the previous games, we also start some games with them.
"They have got their chance already in the Premier League and that doesn't mean every time they play in the Premier League that they have to score or assist. The important thing is when we need them, they are there."
