As Justin Kluivert wheeled away to celebrate his St James' Park hat-trick, there was one man who took things slightly too far. Daniel Jebbison, brought on in the 82nd minute for Bournemouth, picked up the match ball that would soon belong to Kluivert and blasted it into the Leazes End towards the Newcastle home supporters.

By this point, most of Eddie Howe's side were trudging back to the centre circle after watching any hope of salvaging at least a point slip through their fingers. However, not Joelinton.

The Brazilian, who had been a niggly thorn in the side of Bournemouth all afternoon, took matters into his own hands. Joelinton went in search of Jebbison and gave him a piece of his mind before the forward's team-mates came to his rescue and calmed matters down.

The Newcastle star's angry reaction earned Jebbison a late yellow card from embattled referee Stuart Atwell, who had earlier booked Joelinton for a clash with Kluivert that sparked a big flashpoint between the two sides.

It was that type of game. Big challenges flying in, physical battles all over the pitch and Newcastle, unfortunately, beaten in most of them. Eddie Howe, speaking after the game, insists his side's recent run simply caught up with them.

"I don't want to make excuses but I just felt there was fatigue in our performance today," he said at full-time. "We didn't start well and never played with the intensity we normally do and we were off in almost every phase. I'll put it down to physically right now but with a thorough analysis we'll see if I feel the same way."

For Joelinton, he is now two bookings away from another suspension and Howe will be hoping he can channel thatt anger going forward. Newcastle supporters certainly appreciated his stoppage time show of emotion after Bournemouth had compounded their misery.
