Jonathan David set to 'snub' transfer as Man United handed brutal reality
West Ham have reportedly held talks with Manchester United-linked Jonathan David's agent ahead of the summer.
The Canada international, who has been in hot form, has established himself as one of the most clinical and consistent strikers in Europe. After five years at Lille, David has confirmed he will be leaving the French club at the end of the season - prompting huge speculation over his long-term future.
"Yes, I will be free at the end of the season. And as for my future, I hope to grow, to become a better player and to play for the biggest clubs in the world, if I can," David told French news outlet Onze Mondial.

"But first of all, I just want to have fun, never forget that football is fun. I started playing football because I had fun. And even though it has now become a job, you have to remember that I wake up every morning for football, for the pleasure of playing. Do you want any clues about my future? You will all know in due time, that is at the end of the season. I will not comment before then."
As he is set to become a free agent in the summer, several clubs are expected to battle for his signature. West Ham meanwhile, tried to get ahead of the competition and according to talkSPORT, have already held talks with David's agent.
However, it's said that David is expected to 'snub' the approach from the Hammers. Besides United, Barcelona and Inter Milan have also been linked with his signature.
Perhaps it comes as no surprise that the Canadian is going to be the subject of interest from a wealth of clubs as he is likely to demand a hefty salary. With that said, and despite United's history, they are languishing behind those clubs right now, both on and off the field.
It means they could be at risk of missing out on David's signature.
