Jonathan Hogg issues Huddersfield Town rallying cry after Birmingham City setback
Huddersfield Town captain Jonathan Hogg has urged his side to “keep working hard” as they aim to get back to winning ways at Northampton Town this weekend.
The Terriers head into Saturday's clash against the fifth-from-bottom Cobblers at Sixfields having registered back-to-back home defeats in their last two outings, with Town beaten 1-0 by Bolton Wanderers and Birmingham City over the past week.
Back-to-back defeats have left the Terriers 10 points adrift of the automatic promotion spots with a game in hand, but Hogg is remaining level-headed in his side’s bid to get back on track.

“There’s still plenty of football to play I think,” the skipper told HTTV. “The last two games, we haven’t been battered, and we haven’t let ourselves down too badly, the performances have been not far away from decent ones.
“I think if we did take points from the last two games, no-one would’ve said anything about it, so it’s one of those things. We can’t get too down and we can’t get too high about it, so we just need to keep working hard, keep doing what we’re doing, and the results will soon turn around.
“We’re not a team that’s going to win every week, and we need to keep pushing ourselves and keep working as hard as we can to make sure we do turn it around quickly.
“It’s not the end of the world. We’ve just come off the back of [16] games unbeaten, we’ve had a blip, we need to get over it, and get back to winning ways.
“I think the group that we’ve got know we’re an honest, hardworking bunch of lads. We know we’re not going to take the foot of the gas, we need to keep pushing, make sure we run even harder for each other, fight for each other, fight for the fans, fight for everything, and we’ll soon turn it around.”
Keshi Anderson’s superb volley four minutes after the break consigned Town to defeat against league leaders Birmingham on Tuesday evening, and reflecting on the loss, Hogg said: “It was a game that one bit of quality won it, which it’s a shame that it was Birmingham that came up with that bit of quality to take the points home.
“We were in the game for the majority of it. The last 20 minutes, they’re bringing on giants to defend.
“They’re top of the league for a reason, they’re a good quality outfit, and it was one of those things, the luck wasn’t on our side tonight, and I think Birmingham were lucky enough to take the three points home with them.”
