Jordan Jenkins says Glentoran's focus is on winning as many games as possible as they step up their pursuit of silverware.

There's a real head of steam building at The Oval over the past month as the Glens marched on in the Irish Cup and BetMcLean Cup as well as moving up to second in the league after stretching their unbeaten run to nine games.

There's a chance to secure the first trophy of the season when they take on Larne in the Co Antrim Shield in 10 days time and Jenkins insists they are determined to keep this run going.

"We needed to get some momentum and results behind us," said the young striker. "Obviously we had that poor run of results midway through the first part of the season.

"We're on a good run now, but we have to keep it going. The way the league is this season if you lose one game you could go on and lose a couple. Thankfully we're on a good run and we have to keep it going.

"Every month is big. We've seven games coming up and I'm sure next month will be as busy as well because we're still in all the cup competitions. We just want to keep our form going and try to get into as many finals as we can and try and push as far as we can in the league."

Jenkins kept his own purple patch going with the crucial first goal in Tuesday night's BetMcLean Cup quarter-final win over Ballymena United. "Yeah, I'm happy enough, I'd probably like a bit more if I'm honest but I haven't started as many games as other players," he said when asked about moving into double figures for the season.

"I'm just happy to be chipping in a lot more, I've got four in the last month, so I'm just hoping to keep that form going, and hopefully it can continue to end the season."

The Glens face the Sky Blues again this afternoon with Jenkins expecting another tough test against Jim Ervin's side who frustrated them for large parts of Tuesday's game. "It was a tough game, they had a back five and just seemed to sit in for most of the first half and we just really couldn't break them down," said Jenkins.

"It's so easy to start getting frustrated. I was getting frustrated myself as I wasn't getting the ball You're trying to make runs and you weren't getting the ball. To be fair with it, we did stay patient the whole first half, and thankfully the goals came in the second half and we're into the semi-finals now.

"We know what to expect from Ballymena, they are a good team. It will be a different game on Saturday down there, the pitch probably won't be as good and we know what to expect when we go there. We want to go there and continue our good form and hopefully get another good result."
