Jordan Spieth switches putters at the 2025 WM Phoenix Open

Putting has always been a foundation of Jordan Spieth's game, but last season, he went cold on the greens, finishing 101st on the PGA Tour in Stroke Gained: Putting. Last week, in his season debut at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Texan ranked 70th out of 79 players in SG: Putting for the week at -3.743, which means he gave away nearly four shots to the average player in the field.

That performance may have been the last straw for Spieth because Thursday morning at TPC Scottsdale, the three-time major champion and 13-time PGA Tour winner benched his Scotty Cameron 009 putter, a club that he has used in nearly every professional tournament in his career in favor of a heel-toe weighted blade made by T.P. Mills.

The T.P. Mills putter company is based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and sells some ready-to-buy clubs, but most of the brand's putters are custom-made. The putter Spieth is using Thursday at the WM Phoenix Open has a dark finish and a very similar shape to the putter Spieth typically uses. The club appears to be fitted with the same SuperStroke Zenergy Flatso 1.0 grip, and it has the same single white alignment line on the topline.

Last June, in the midst of a poor putting season, Spieth practiced with several different Scotty Cameron putters, including mallets and clubs fitted with graphite shafts, but kept using his old 009M throughout the season.
