Jose Mourinho reveals why Man City will be laughing at Chelsea next season

Jose Mourinho believes Premier League champions Manchester City will be “laughing” at the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 61-year-old was a pundit on TNT Sports as former club Real Madrid won the Champions League at Wembley by defeating Borussia Dortmund.

Mourinho had also been confirmed as the new Fenerbahce manager after agreeing a shock two-year deal to return to management for the first time since being sacked by Roma in January.

It will be the 11th club the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ has worked for during a storied managerial career to have seen him lift 26 trophies across four different countries.

The former United boss was even briefly tipped to replace Mauricio Pochettino at another of his previous clubs in Chelsea, though that job has gone to Enzo Maresca.

Asked about what he made of Pochettino’s reasonably surprising departure from the Blues, Mourinho said: “I have no idea.”

He expanded on United’s difficult season too, with Erik ten Hag under pressure despite winning the FA Cup.

“A little improvement but more of the same,” he said.

Speaking about another of his old clubs in Tottenham, the Portuguese said: “Tottenham I have an idea, this is Tottenham, always fighting to be fourth, which would be amazing between fourth, fifth, sixth, next season the Europa League, of course they can win it.

“They look [to have] stability, they are investing more, amazing club, amazing facilities, such a beautiful stadium, you can feel it.

“Chelsea… I really don’t know.”

Mourinho then added that City boss Pep Guardiola would be laughing at the mess at some of his rivals in England as he looks to win a fifth consecutive title next time out.

“I think in this moment Pep [Guardiola] laughs at the mess at other clubs.”
