Jota to Celtic is ON as winger return 'explored' with Kyogo exit clearing path for Rennes deal
Celtic are reportedly targeting a move to bring back Jota is reportedly from Stade Rennes.
The winger made the move to Ligue 1 last summer after a nightmare spell with Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. The £25million Celtic exit in 2023 proved to be ill-fated but the attacker - leaving after a year and attempting to kickstart his career with Stade Rennes. However, he has quickly dropped down the the pecking order at the club following the arrival of Jorge Sampaoli and had been expected to leave the club this month.
Now, Ouest-France claim that the two-time Premiership title winner is set to make a dramatic return to Glasgow's east end with Kyogo Furuhashi going in the opposite direction. Reports in France state that an agreement has been reached between Rennes and Celtic for a €12m (£10.1m) fee. It is noted that he has "probably played his last match" for the club during the Champions League victory over Young Boys.
The outlet understands that Furuhashi’s move to Rennes "has been made easier" when it became clear that Jota could be allowed to move back to Celtic Park. The Sun report that the possibility of bringing Jota back is still being "explored" but could be green lit by Brendan Rodgers.
