Real Madrid ace Jude Bellingham was among the players to show support for Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold after his performance against Accrington Stanley. The 26-year-old captained the Reds and was on target as they ran out 4-0 winners in the FA Cup third round.

Alexander-Arnold was criticised for his display during the 2-2 draw with Manchester United, but responded well against the League Two side as he managed his second goal of the campaign. Liverpool's academy graduate has been the focus of attention in recent weeks after speculation over his future intensified following reports over a proposed mid-season move to Real Madrid.

Media outlets in Spain suggested that Alexander-Arnold had signalled his intent to sign for Los Blancos before a bid was launched on the eve of the transfer window opening. However, that was rebuffed.

In response to his positive showing, Alexander-Arnold posted a picture on to his Instagram account, celebrating after doubling their lead on Saturday. Bellingham - who has struck-up a friendship with the Liverpool player from their time on international duty with England - was among those to like the post.

The 21-year-old Madrid star refused to be drawn on the speculation with a summer move to the Spanish capital prior to their Champions League reverse at Anfield, though. He said: "I'll be playing alongside him next season for England anyway, so hopefully, that'll be a guarantee.

"He's a Liverpool player, and I think it's disrespectful to come to his home today and speak about something that could be misconstrued. So I think it's important to take that pressure off him.

"He's a really good mate of mine, and I want him to do well normally, obviously just not tomorrow night. We'll see what happens, but as I said, he's a Liverpool player."
