Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has been handed a two-match ban for his red card against Osasuna ahead of tonight's Champions League clash with Manchester City.

Bellingham was shown a straight red card in the first-half of Madrid's La Liga clash with Osasuna on Saturday. Referee Jose Luis Munuera Monteo sent the midfielder off after a communication problem.

The England international appeared to use abusive language to Monteo, who accused him of shouting 'f*** you' in his direction in reiteration to the decision, something Bellingham denied. "It's clear that I said it when I've already turned away," he said. "It's difficult when he says it's an insult when I haven't insulted him.

"I'm glad the videos are out and there's evidence that goes against what the referee put in the report. It's clear that there was a communication error. It's an expression like the Spanish expression 'joder'; the consequence is that he left us with one less player.

"It's not an insult; it was an expression for myself. You'll see it in the video."

On Wednesday, Bellingham was handed a two-match ban meaning he will be forced to miss Sunday's home game with Girona and Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg clash with Real Sociedad.

Bellingham is available to face City tonight. Pep Guardiola's men travel to the Santiago Bernabeu looking to overturn the 3-2 first-leg defeat and book their place in the last 16.
