Juventus boss Thiago Motta has broken his silence on the future of Man City-linked left-back Andrea Cambiaso.

Reports emerged from Italy on Thursday claiming City were close to signing the Italy international for a fee in the region of £50-55million. It is believed Pep Guardiola is keen to sign a natural left-back, with Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake moving over from centre-half to perform the role in recent seasons.

However, it is understood that despite City's interest a move is not as advanced as those reports suggested, and Motta has reaffirmed that by confirming the 24-year-old will feature against AC Milan in Serie A tomorrow.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Motta was asked whether Cambiaso would be involved amid the transfer talk and replied: "I see Andrea very well and he will play tomorrow."

City are expected to sign Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov and Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis after agreeing fees with both clubs, further strengthening their options in the centre of defence.

Prolific Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush is also expected to join the club in a deal worth around £67million.

In what has been a busy January transfer window already, Erling Haaland has signed a new contract until the summer of 2034 while club captain Kyle Walker has asked to leave the club for a possible transfer abroad.

Right-back Issa Kabore has also joined Werder Bremen on loan after cutting short a loan spell at Benfica, while Argentine teenager Claudio Echeverri will join the club after the conclusion of the under-20 South American championships.
