Kasper Schmeichel shows true colours to Jamie Carragher after pundit enquires about clubs 'the calibre of Celtic'

Jamie Carragher asked Kasper Schmeichel if the new Champions League format suits clubs the 'calibre' of Celtic - and the smiling keeper had the perfect response waiting.

The Hoops No.1 was interviewed on CBS Sports after their 0-0 draw with Dinamo Zagreb. It was a clean sheet for Schmeichel as Brendan Rodgers' team picked up a point on the road and he was interviewed, alongside dad Peter, by the panel which included Carragher and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

The segment started with a back and forth between the Schmeichels, proud dad Peter hailing his key save against Marko Pjaca late in the second half, tipping it over the bar at full stretch and leaving the forward with his hands on his head. That secured the point and moved Celtic a babystep closer to knockout stage football, having made the most of the new league format so far. And that led Carragher to say: "You're in a great position, do you think the new format has given clubs of your calibre a better chance in terms of progressing?"

And the keeper honestly responded: "I'm quite happy with the format, it keeps things exciting. From a personal point of view, you get to play a much bigger variety of teams. It gives us a chance. I quite enjoy it, to be honest."

The Liverpool hero hadn't heard the last of it there though. Host Kate Abdo went back to the Schmeichels, asking them what was said between them when they spoke in Danish before the broadcast, having heard Carragher's name brought up in their chat. And Peter said: "I told him that you said earlier in the programme that Kasper was your friend.

"I warned you about questions, and you said don't worry, Kasper is your friend. So I told him don't worry, Jamie's going to behave nicely."
