BBC Sports Personality of the Year contenders: Keely Hodgkinson leads 2024 favourites
Keely Hodgkinson leads the nominees for the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year after she produced arguably Team GB’s moment of the Paris Olympics by winning 800m gold.
Also on the shortlist announced on Monday are teenage darts sensation Luke Littler, England’s most prolific ever Test batsman Joe Root, Real Madrid and England footballer Jude Bellingham, Olympic triathlon silver medallist Alex Yee and Paralympic great Sarah Storey.
There was no place for Mark Cavendish or Tom Pidcock on the shortlist.
The programme will also have an all-female presenting line-up for the first time after the BBC confirmed Gary Lineker will not be replaced as co-host. Clare Balding, Gabby Logan and Alex Scott will present this year’s show.
Telegraph Sport takes a look at the favourites to be included on this year’s shortlist.
