A return to English football by former Leicester City man Kelechi Iheanacho has been rumoured throughout January and now with just hours of the transfer window remaining, it looks like rumour may prove to be fact, well part of the rumour anyway.

According to Spanish media El Desmarque, Iheanacho is all set to appear in the Championship promotion fight but not at Leeds United as had previously been suggested in some quarters. A deal for Iheanacho to go to Leeds was a non starter from the beginning and it's our understanding no offer was made for the player, one whose wages would have been a significant outlay, even more so for a player who has not shown the type of form you'd associate with such an outlay.

However, it appears Middlesbrough do not share those same concerns and according to the Spanish press, ex-Leeds United Director of Football Victor Orta has agreed a deal with another of his former clubs for the sale of Iheanacho.

There had been some suggestion Saturday that Scottish giants Celtic would enter the fray for his signature. Iheanacho is already in England says El Desmarque, to finalise a loan move to the Riverside Stadium for the rest of the season. Leeds meanwhile continue to be linked with a pursuit of Southampton' Cameron Archer.

The player was missing from the Saints' win at Ipswich Town yesterday, with Leeds having already had one approach to take him on loan knocked back by the Premier League club.
